Not at this time. There is a city bus stop right across the street from the school.
We follow all the provincial guidelines mandated for schools. We update our procedures regularily.
Our school has students wear uniforms. These can be purchased at Neat Uniforms online or at their Burnaby location. Please see our HIGHROAD UNIFORM POLICY for more information
If your child has a diagnosis and/or a previous IEP and requires extra support, please indicate this on your application form and we will let you know if we can meet those needs.
At grades 7-8, student WiFi devices are not approved for in-class use. Phones are to be locked up in lockers between 9AM and 3PM. If you need to reach your student, you may easily do so through the school office. Students in grades 9-12 will receive access to our filtered WiFi – with parent approval. Teachers set expectations for phone use in classrooms, but students should expect that they cannot use their phones during class instruction time.
In September of the school year, a Chromebook and a charger is distributed to each student in grades 9-12. They become the responsibility of the user, according to the Chromebook agreement that students sign. The Chromebook operates on the filtered Highroad Academy network. These are to be returned in June, in good working order. Lost or damaged Chromebooks or chargers are the responsibility of the student. Students in grade 7-8 are assigned to Chromebooks, but the Chromebooks stay at school on charging carts which are moved to classes as needed.
We offer BC curriculum from a Biblical world view. At grade 7-8-9, students take part in an eight-week rotation, so they have four opportunities to try out some new activities and develop new skills. Our elective choices include art (drawing, painting, clay), coding, drama, foods, music, outdoor ed, textiles, woodwork. Courses are adjusted/added each year. For our grade 10-11-12 students, we offer ALL courses needed for graduation and university entrance, and a wide variety of electives. We are creative and flexible when it comes to accommodating the requests of students for elective courses.
At Highroad, we work hard to prioritize relationships and a positive school culture. We treat students as individuals and do our best to prepare them for life beyond high school. We offer a well-balanced approach with high quality academics, focused spiritual growth, and positive emotional support. We intentionally build into the lives of students so that by graduation, they are compassionate leaders, Christian disciples, and community builders. We believe we are all made on purpose for purpose.
